Inside the Branjelina Wedding

It happened – it really happened. Brad Pitt and Anjelina Jolie got married on August 23rd in a private ceremony at Chateua Miraval, their large, luxurious home in Correns, France (Jolie promised her late mom that she would marry in France).

Angelina walked down the aisle, in a stunning Atelier Versace gown created by master tailor Luigi Massi and flowing veil embroidered with her children’s drawings. She was escorted down the aisle by her eldest sons, Maddox and Pax, to the tune Here Comes the Bride hummed by Brad Pitt, their children, and 20 guests. Daughters Zahara and Vivienne threw flower petals gathered from the estate’s garden, and Shiloh and Knox (Vivienne’s twin) were the ring bearers.

Brad wore a suit that was already hanging in his closet, but forgot to bring a tie, so he borrowed one from his son. Zahara’s dress was designed by a family friend, while Vivenne wore a white dress that was also already hanging in her closet. Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, and Knox all wore black suits, though Shiloh’s included shorts and a top hat.

Each of the Jolie-Pitt’s six children helped to write Brad and Angelina’s vows, and asked their parents to make promises to one another. In fact, the wedding only took place because the children pushed Brad and Angelina to make a covenant of marriage. “We’re getting a lot of pressure from the kids,” Brad said, “we didn’t realize how much it meant to them, and then, in getting engaged, how much it also meant to us.” Brad proposed to his now bride in the presence of their children while at home, and presented her with a custom-made ring from exclusive American jeweler, Robert Procop. The ring is worth approximately $500,000.

The wedding cake was lovingly baked by Pax and his friends, indicative of the couple’s wishes for a family-oriented day. “It was important to us that the day was relaxed and full of laughter,” Brad and Angelina told PEOPLE magazine. “It was such a special day to share with our children and a very happy time for our family.”
