With This Ring I Thee Wed? Prince William Will Not Be Wearing A Wedding Ring Following Royal Wedding

Palace officials confirmed today that Prince William does not plan to wear a wedding ring following his marriage to Kate Middleton on April 29th. A Palace Aid insists that Kate is fine with this decision, but it does go against the majority of British royalty tradition, since almost all of the male royals do wear a wedding ring of some sorts, with the Duke of Edinburgh being an exception. While William and Kate”s wedding will follow many royal traditions, it also will have some very modern twists, and probably a few surprises thrown in!

The choice to wear a wedding ring is a personal decision, but most brides prefer their husbands wear one, given the ring”s symbolism of eternal love and fidelity, along with that shiny band being a reminder to other ladies that this man is taken! While you would be hard pressed to find anyone that does not know that Prince William is taken, his decision shows just how modern and independent this Royal Couple is. They also seem to know just which rules to keep and which to break, and how to make it all work for them.

Kate Middleton will be wearing a ring made of Welsh gold for her bridal set, but the design has yet to be known.
