What to Wear Under Your Wedding Dress

Whether your dress is backless, strapless, tight-fitting, sleeveless, short, long, or a combination of features, what you wear underneath it matters – a lot. Not only is the fit and style of your gown important, but you also need to choose underpinnings that work well with your figure and are comfortable.

Then there is also the wedding night to think about. For the most part, what you wear under your gown should be there solely to keep you comfortable, supported, smooth, and in place, while the sexy numbers should be put on after the dress comes off.

But you need to have a plan in mind, too. Will you be alone when your gown falls to the floor, or will your husband be in the room with you? If he will be with you, you will want undergarments that are sexy and appealing.

So with all of these things to consider, how on earth do you choose the right lingerie for you?

The Backless Dress
You cannot wear a bra with a backless dress, and many bridal blogs recommend wearing a strapless, backless adhesive bra. But they provide no support and are not comfortable. Neither are they sexy!

I recommend having bra cups sewn into the front of the dress. Another option is to have your alterations expert scoop out the back of a long-line bra (a bra that extends down to your waist; similar to a corset).

The Strapless Gown
Obviously a strapless bra is needed with a strapless gown, but a sewn-in bra adds good support and provides is quite comfortable.

If you go with a strapless bra, make sure it fits very well. The dress should fit snugly to your bust line and waist, but you do not want to have to be constantly pulling up an ill-fitting bra. Seventy-five percent of women are wearing the wrong bra size, so ask a professional to help you find your correct size.

The Form-Fitting Dress
Form-fitting gowns may require seamless shapewear to smooth imperfections. These garments are usually made from hi-tech micro fibers and provide complete seamless coverage. They prevent visible panty and bra lines and are surprisingly comfortable.

High-rise shaping thong panties, bandeau-style bras, and seamless push-up bras are also good options to create a nothing-there look.

For all gowns, the bustier is, I think, a great choice. Whether you are wearing a strapless, backless, or form-fitting dress, the bustier is gorgeous, sexy, and comfortable. You will look and feel like a million bucks!

Whatever you choose, you need to be comfortable, supported, and completely kept in place by your undergarments, but you should also keep an eye out for smoothness and sexiness.
